Restorations

The following is a list of Film Registry titles that have been restored but still have not received a proper (i.e. remastered Blu-ray Disc or 4K Ultra HD) home video release. Please let me know if you know of any others.

Betty Tells Her Story (1972/2022) Restored. Only available on DVD at institutional pricing. Currently streaming on The Criterion Channel and Kanopy.

Brandy in the Wilderness (1969/2013) Restored by Ross Lipman. The film can be viewed at the UCLA Film & Television Archive but is otherwise unavailable.

The Crowd (1928/1989) Restored. Only available on public domain DVDs. Rumors of an upcoming Blu-ray Disc.

Eadweard Muybridge, Zoopraxographer (1975/2015) Restored by Ross Lipman. Only available on DVD.

Evergreen (1964/2021) Restored by the UCLA Film and Television Archive. Only available on DVD.

Gertie the Dinosaur (1914/1991) Restored. There are plans for a Blu-ray Disc release through a successful Kickstarter campaign.

The Great Train Robbery (1903/1990) Apparently restored in 2025. This website has said “Coming soon” on Blu-ray Disc for over a year.

Kid Auto Races at Venice (1914/2020) Restored by the BFI National Archive. Only available on DVD.

The Lady (1925/2025) Restored by the Library of Congress and The Film Foundation. Available in low-quality and incomplete prints on DVD and online.

Lime Kiln Club Field Day (1913/2014) Restored by the Museum of Modern Art. Only available online and currently streaming on The Criterion Channel.

The Maid of McMillan (1916/2025) Restored by the WashU Libraries’ Film & Media Archive. Only available online.

A Movie (1958/1994) Restored by Ross Lipman. Only available online.

Multiple SIDosis (1970/2000) Restored by Ross Lipman. Only available online.

The Murder of Fred Hampton (1971/2021) Restored by the UCLA Film and Television Archive. The DVD is out of print. Otherwise available online.

The Oath of the Sword (1914/2025) Restored by the George Eastman Museum and the Japanese American National Museum. Only available online.

Please, Don’t Bury Me Alive! (1976/2014) Restored by Ross Lipman. A DVD is available at institutional pricing. Otherwise available online.

Ringling Brothers Parade Film (1902/2021) Restored by the Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum. Only available online.

We’re Alive (1974/2023) Restored by the UCLA Film & Television Archive. Only available online.

Who Killed Vincent Chin? (1987/2021) Restored by The Academy Film Archive and The Film Foundation. The DVD is out of print. Otherwise available online.

Will (1981/2024) Restored by the Black Film Center & Archive. Unavailable on home video but currently streaming on The Criterion Channel.

The Wind (1928/1993) Restored by the Museum of Modern Art. Only available on public domain DVDs.

With Car and Camera Around the World (1929/2020) Restored by the Academy Film Archive. This film can be seen at The Margaret Harrick Library in Beverly Hills, CA but is otherwise unavailable.

The Wobblies (1979/2021) Restored by the Museum of Modern Art. Only available on DVD.

Zora Lathan Student Films (1975-1976/2024) Restored by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History & Culture. Only available online.
